VA Aid & Attendance Pension Lookback
August 13th, 2019
The Veteran’s Administration is now enforcing a 3 year look-back for gifts made by veterans as part of eligibility for VA Aid & Attendance Pension benefits. Essentially, any transfers by a veteran without fair market compensation will result in a penalty that differs eligibility for the VA pension available to pay for a veteran’s (or spouse of veteran) unreimbursed medical expenses. This recent rule is similar to the Nursing Home Medicaid look-back of 5 years.
